At Jersey Drilling, we understand the importance of efficient water supply solutions. A part of our dedication to offering advanced water services is the careful and acute borehole pumping test procedure. These tests are essential for understanding and enhancing borehole performance, which guarantees our clients trustworthy and appropriate water supplies.
A borehole pumping analysis test is done by government laboratories with expert teams and advanced equipment. During this process, the depth of the pump to be installed is calculated, water levels are monitored, and data is analyzed to evaluate important aquifer characteristics. The knowledge gathered from these experiments is essential for getting an effective yield of the Borehole and to define the borehole’s quality and quantity.
Pumping test process:
To guarantee accurate data gathering, our skilled team installs modern technology, such as pumps, flow meters, and pressure transducers, ahead of the test. We start the pumping phase and keep an eye on the water levels in the borehole and the nearby observation wells as we pump at a constant pace. Throughout the pumping and recovery stages, our staff carefully collects data, obtaining vital information on drawdown and recovery rates. To identify important aquifer characteristics like transmission and storability, we examine depletion and recovery data using advanced analytical approaches.
We calculate the borehole’s sustainable output and give our clients vital information about the ideal extraction rate to guarantee the long-term dependability of their water supply. Our in-depth reports cover every step of the procedure, outlining the technique, the data analysis, and practical suggestions for maximizing borehole performance.
Types of Pumping Tests:
- CONSTANT-TEST RATE: It is essential to continue pumping at the control well at a steady pace during this test. The most used pumping test technique for estimating aquifer characteristics is this one. These tests are mainly intended to offer information on the hydraulic properties of the aquifer; they are conducted by pumping at a steady rate for a significantly longer duration than the step test. Only with data from appropriate observation boreholes can the aquifer storage coefficient be estimated.
- STEP-DRAWDOWN TEST: These tests measure well outcomes including well efficiency and well loss by going through a series of constant-rate steps at the control well. The purpose of step tests is to determine the short-term connection between drawdown and yield for the borehole under test. The process involves sequentially pumping the borehole at varying discharge rates, often rising with each phase. The last action should go closer to the borehole’s expected maximum production.
- RECOVERY TEST: Water-level (residual drawdown) data are used in these tests once the pumping is stopped. A recovery test is an essential component of any pumping test, even though it is frequently interpreted independently. Recovery tests are performed by keeping an eye on the water levels once pumping is stopped following a constant-rate test (and occasionally following a step test). A foot valve must be installed on the rising main for the test to be legitimate; otherwise, water would surge back into the borehole and give a helpful check on the aquifer features determined from the previous tests.
